For those who follow the events in Iran
The "election" for the 11th President was held while major political parties were banned. Among those "legal" still some were not allowed to participate( their members - anyway, in Iran political parties do not take part in election, as Khomeini in 1980 declared the political parties are against Quran, citing the Sura Al Ahzab in Quran)
Among those 100 plus candidates, many regimes previous operators T like Ministers, judges, and one founder, like Rafsanjani, were disqualified. 8 remained. 2 of the 8, resigned in favour of others.
Hassan Faridoun Rouhani was chosen, some hailed it as a right person to steer Iran to "moderation".
Rouhani as expected has chosen a cabinet with "Intelligence" essence, and Ministers have a background of working at the Minister Security, or the Supreme Council of Security- as his own background is.
Among the proposed ministers, one was notable, Mostafa Pour Mohammadi, who was selected for the post of” Justice Minister”. Even though Justice in Iran means nothing, never the less such a person who sat on a "Death Commission" to eliminate around 5000 political prisoners in the summer of 1988, and also executed hundreds in Bandar Abbas and Mashhad in 1980-81 when he was 20 years of old, raise some eye brows. As you may agree, one cannot talk of moderation and chose iron fist tactics at the same time.
Apologists of the regime however, who happen to be from the so called "Anti War" groups, opined that, Rouhani has no option but to accept some of the "Leader's" appointees. Rouhani categorically denied it, He said I am not under anyone's pressure, what so ever. Apologists nodded as " He has to say that "
Today, is the second day in the Islamic Majles, who debate and talk about the proposed cabinet members. The President has to justify his choices for the cabinet posts from the podium of the Majles.
To the dismay of the apologists, this is what "Moderate" Rouhani said about the Killer Pour Mohmmadi: {He referred to Pour-Mohammadi's knowledge and experience and noted that "he has been successful, wherever he has been."} We know where he has been, mass execution of political prisoners in the summer of 1988. He ordered the executions of hundred plus youth in Bandar Abbas in 1980, and followed the same feet in Mashhad. Rouhani then promised: {"we will put to use his numerous experiences in the government."} The translated quotes of Rouhani's speech in the curly brackets { } are from Broumand Foundation, and not mine.
Here is now the moment of truth for the rare apologists of Rouhani, who are not lobbying for the Iranian regime per say; those who set forth the idea of following the "will" of Iranian people; for those who were abroad, some even former refugees, but chose to partake in this sham election, to re-evaluate their stances seriously.
